Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Sayreville District Curriculum
Sayreville Public Schools seeks to prepare its students to be the well-educated leaders of tomorrow’s world. The district’s curriculum is in line with state and federal standards, and is based on the Common Core Standards Initiative and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. The Common Core Standards outline the knowledge and skills that students should acquire in Math and Language Arts.
The Math standards are based on the Common Core Standards Initiative which define what students should be able to know and do in their studies of math from kindergarten through 12th grade. In elementary school, students focus on acquiring the basic mathematical skills they will need to be successful, such as addition and subtraction, knowledge of the base-ten notation and describing the differences between various geometric shapes. In middle school, student learning shifts to understanding ratios, calculating fractions, learning to display numerical information in plots and how to communicate mathematic thought.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Why Technology Is So Important
Integrating technology into the learning day has many benefits for students. First, students acquire the technology-related skills they must have in order to be successful in the 21st Century workplace. Students hone their typing skills, online research skills as well as time-management skills. Second, technology allows for an expansion of the learning space. Students who utilize technology can access virtually unlimited learning materials that can help supplement their education. While students only have access to their teacher for less than an hour a day, they have access to online materials 24/7. Finally, technology allows students to set their own pace. We all know that kids learn at different rates and technology gives students the ability to break step with the rest of the class and work at a pace that is best for them.
