Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Seaside District Curriculum

In Language Arts, a primary goal is to provide a wealth of strategies for the comprehension and analysis of texts. The process of writing is the other central focus and students are asked to craft writing for reasons of explanation, persuasion or reflection. Each year, students are taught the language and reflective thinking skills to accomplish this.

In Math, the goal is to give students computational, procedural, problem-solving and reasoning strategies to work with. This is accomplished through the classes in Algebra, Geometry, and Data Analysis. The Science curriculum asks students to learn through investigating and experimenting with principles of science. The basic subject learning students do enables them to take on the more dynamic course offerings available at the high school.

Seaside District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The schools of Seaside use a curriculum that is a guideline for the whole educational process in core academic subjects. It serves as the basis for planning instruction and developing teaching strategies, it explains exactly what is expected of students in each grade, and provides clear objectives that can be assessed through formal or standardized assessments.

We currently cover the following Seaside-area school district: Monterey Peninsula Unified School District.
