Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Show Low District Curriculum
English/Language Arts has been designed to take the students in step from the basics to more complex reading skills to prepare students for life after high school. Students are required to read both classic and contemporary sources and informational texts with an eye towards building knowledge and broadening their perspectives. Students will also learn to gain new ways of looking at things. Along with reading, students learn to communicate effectively through both written and oral skills.
Students are provided with math skills that they will need in real life, solving real life problems. Kindergartners learn the basics of whole numbers and the operations of addition and subtraction, as well as how numbers represent objects. Middle school mathematics provides a richer curriculum that prepares middle school students for the more complex form of mathematics they will experience in high school.

- Show Low Museum - Visit the Show Low Museum and see historical artifacts of the Mormons who settled the area. Many historical artifacts are on display and they are being added to often. - Petrified Forest National Park - Visit the Petrified Forest and see the scenic wonder of beautifully colored petrified wood. Visitors will also have the enjoyment of seeing the Painted Desert. - Big Springs Environmental Study Area - Big Springs was developed as a school study area and is full of wildlife and springs. Take a trip and enjoy the hiking trails and the commune with nature. There are nature programs for all ages and a range of resources available to learn more about the local environment, the geology, climate and other related topics.

Imagine how it must feel for a child to know that a parent or teacher does not seem to be listening. Kids are much more inclined to pay attention to adults if they show an interest in what they want to say. Kids need to be heard and adults need to listen and show a real interest in what the child wants to say. Pay attention to your kids and let them know you care by giving them proper responses and spending time to understand what is being said. Make sure you respect your child and listen. This will help build critical communication and awareness that will last a lifetime.
