Shreveport District and Curriculum

The Caddo Parish Public Schools uses the Common Core Standards to guide education for all their students. The curriculum is focused on Math and Literacy, and provides a model for teaching in other subject areas. The curriculum is designed to indicate key learning expectations for students to achieve, all of which are related to the major topics within each subject.

A strong mathematical foundation also lends to success in the Sciences.

Writing to learn and writing to inform are emphasized in the teaching of the writing process. The infusion of technology in learning requires advanced reading and writing skills and supports these abilities by providing opportunities to read, create, research, and increase student learning in all subject areas.

Keeping Informed: Recent Shreveport Educational News

  • National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security - Huntington’s Delta Company Commander was accepted into the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security. The six-day program in Washington D. C., introduces student to Intelligence and defense careers. During the experience, students participate in strategy exercises that employ their knowledge and experience with teamwork and decision-making skills. The program gives students the opportunity to use leadership and public speaking skills to solve complex challenges.
  • Broadmoor Middle School Receives NIP Grant - Broadmoor Middle School has been awarded the Neighborhood Investment Program Grant from the city of Shreveport! Campus beautification and improvements will be the purpose for the $6,000 gift. Congratulations to the students and staff!
  • Southwood Bio Technology Magnet Students featured in YouTube Video - The Biotech Academy “Basic, Translational & Clinical Research” video on YouTube features Southwood BioTechnology Magnet students! Supported by the National Center for Research Resources and the Office of Science Education, students work in the laboratory to discover how clinical practice is tied to research.
