Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Shreveport District Curriculum
The goal of Caddo Parish Public Schools is to create world class students. In Math, students are taught numeracy, geometry, measurement, probability and statistics. Learning how to problem solve is a strong focus of Caddo Parish Schools, along with building skills in critical thinking such as reasoning and logic. A strong mathematical foundation also lends to success in the Sciences.
The celebration of reading is supported by reading literature, informational, visual and digital texts. The ability to comprehend, analyze and evaluate different types of text is an important skill in our global economy. Writing to learn and writing to inform are emphasized in the teaching of the writing process. The infusion of technology in learning requires advanced reading and writing skills and supports these abilities by providing opportunities to read, create, research, and increase student learning in all subject areas.

I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!

Chalk Talk: How to Prepare Your Child for Math!
Using teachable moments each day is a great way to prepare your child for school, and to support your child’s learning if they already attend school. When your child is grocery shopping with you, take time to show your child how to make good food choices by comparing one brand with another. Explain your thinking to your child, and talk about how you decide which product is the better buy. While watching parents, children understand that math is used in their everyday world.
