Educating Our Parents: Understanding the South Euclid District Curriculum
Students are inspired through a research-based curriculum involving use of projects and innovative worksheet activities which promote the above skills. In the early grades, the focus is on spelling and correct pronunciation of words which students are encouraged to add to their vocabulary. Science forms an integral part of the South Euclid curriculum enabling students to ask questions, reflect on possible solutions and consequences, and apply them to practical contexts.
Students are also encouraged to integrate subjects through interdisciplinary studies.Art is used as a creative means of assessing what students can do using colors, symmetry and shapes to connect these shapes to their world. By third grade, students must be able to manually perform multiplication and division tables and understand number operations and fractions. Students are also expected to understand the stages of conducting scientific research.

Chalk Talk: Storytelling for Kindergarten Students
Teachers read a lot to students in the form of short books and stories. Many of them though engage in fantasy storytelling to help entice children's imagination and help them to open their minds to many possibilities of learning. Every elementary class needs to make time for engaging students in storytelling and rhyme and encouraging students to sing along. Many students learned stories through rhyme and chanting to get a deeper sense of meaning from the stories. Teachers can learn to creatively use storytelling as a break in the day to help students shift their focus and see the fun in learning. Teachers can choose to ask questions for recall on themes, characters and their motivations. There is much wonder in storytelling as children feel like they are entering the world of the characters and are put in their place. Children learn by watching, observing the characters and the pictures in storybooks and how they react emotionally to events. They learn what is right and wrong and different values of love, care, compassion and empathy.
