Chalk Talk: Writing a College Essay

Most college applications require a personal statement. This is a difficult task for many students still trying to figure out who they are. Students do well by writing about authentic experiences that have helped shape who they are and who they wish to become. Thinking through eye-opening experiences, processes of learning and growing, major influences and what they mean, can be the base for a great admissions essay. Once you have determined what your subject will be, start a list about what that event has meant, its outcomes and personal meanings, and a full outline for the essay can quickly emerge.
