Educating Our Parents: Understanding the South Lyon District Curriculum

South Lyon Community Schools allow students to become proficient in the English curriculum by allowing practice and examples for them to learn. At first, writing takes place in the form of drawing pictures. They then add simple words, then words to add details and description. These words help the reader to see the image that the student began with. In high school, they learn how to create essays and research papers which are aimed at the audience but maintain the author’s voice.

The history of the United States is included in South Lyons Community Schools curriculum. This study includes the political diplomatic, cultural and economic history and more. The time period stretches from the first explorations of the continent through current events. The students learn through typical discussions and through primary and secondary resources and technological resources.
