(Community Accepts and Respects Everyone). The Tribes Learning Community is a step-by-step process to achieve specific learning goals based upon brain-compatible learning, multiple intelligences, cooperative learning and social development research. Students learn a set of collaborative skills so they can work well together in long-term groups.

Keeping Informed: Recent South Windsor Educational News

  • Connecticut Common Core - South Windsor Public Schools has established a link to the state of Connecticut’s recently new website designed to provide important information regarding the Connecticut Core Standards. Multi-lingual resources include videos, pamphlets, roadmaps and even an online link to Khan Academy for additional instructional support.

Chalk Talk: Importance of Success Plans

Student Success Plans enable parents and students to focus on post-secondary and career goals, beginning at grade six through twelfth. It provides a support and assistance in setting goals for social, emotional, physical and academic growth to meet rigorous high school expectations and explore post-secondary education and career interests. This student portfolio follows students from school to school and consists of three important parts: academic development, career development and social, emotional and physical development. The personal goals for Academic Development lead students toward the acquisition of skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to be an effective, life-long learner with 21st Century Skills, an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills necessary in a global community. The Career Development goals allow students to explore their interests and abilities toward a customized plan with flexible educational opportunities, personal connections, and elective coursework, such as the arts. The Social, Emotional and Physical Development of the Student Success Plan maintains wellness goals and habits, helping students to engage in the school environment.
