The Indiana Department of Education exposes students to many different subjects, enabling them to gain knowledge in a variety of areas. The language arts curriculum teaches students reading, writing, and many other skills necessary to gain a solid command of the English language. These courses focus on cultural awareness in addition to speaking and writing skills.

We currently cover the following St. John-area school district: Lake Central School Corporation.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the St. John District Curriculum

In the area of science, students will have the opportunity to study physical, earth, and life science, as well as technology and engineering. As students progress in grade level, they move from learning about basic scientific properties to the world around them and the human body. The earth science section teaches students about Earth processes such as weather and the effect of the Sun. Students study these topics through experiments and other hands-on activities. Elective courses are available for students interested in health science. Internships are made available in the veterinary, dental, and physical therapy fields.

Humanities courses are offered at all levels and are beneficial for students who may be interested in attending a Liberal Arts college or who thrive off of language, arts, or other areas of the humanities. Lake Central Schools strive to produce well-rounded and responsible individuals who can contribute to society and work with others to solve problems.

Chalk Talk: Getting the Most Out of A Tutor Session

A tutor is there to help you with any topics that you might find confusing in your schoolwork. For example, they can show you different ways to solve a particular problem that you hadn’t considered before or how to write a better essay. In order to get the most out of a tutoring session, you should first make sure that you meet at a place where you know you can concentrate. If your tutor is from a tutoring business, their office should be a great place for this. However, some tutors will meet you in a desired area such as the library or a park. Make sure that you meet your tutor on time. Many tutors have scheduled appointments with other students after they meet with you, so you can’t count on them being able to stay late. You should also bring any notes or tools you have that are related to the topic you need to study. Textbooks, calculators, or class notes are things that are usually needed.
