Educating Our Parents: Understanding the St. Peter District Curriculum
High school students learn about essential concepts related to the physical sciences as part of the comprehensive science curriculum. As part of their studies, high school students explore the concept of energy. An examination of electricity is undertaken, with students explaining why currents flow when free charges are introduced to an electrical field. Voltage, resistance, and current are primary topics of study in that component. The process by which moving electric charges create a magnetic force is explored.
St. Peter’s arts curriculum introduces students to the processes of making and creating art in a variety of disciplines. In dance, students develop dance motifs that show a mastery of a variety of movements. In the media arts, learners take an artistic point of view to create a media, such as a short film to express their artistic intent. Music students also discuss how to create art. Learners explore improvisation, and learn how to play an instrument or sing off the cuff to give their performance an added level of excitement.
