Educating Our Parents: Understanding the St. Peter District Curriculum
High school students learn about essential concepts related to the physical sciences as part of the comprehensive science curriculum. As part of their studies, high school students explore the concept of energy. An examination of electricity is undertaken, with students explaining why currents flow when free charges are introduced to an electrical field. Voltage, resistance, and current are primary topics of study in that component. The process by which moving electric charges create a magnetic force is explored.
St. Peter’s arts curriculum introduces students to the processes of making and creating art in a variety of disciplines. In dance, students develop dance motifs that show a mastery of a variety of movements. In the media arts, learners take an artistic point of view to create a media, such as a short film to express their artistic intent. Music students also discuss how to create art. Learners explore improvisation, and learn how to play an instrument or sing off the cuff to give their performance an added level of excitement.

SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: The Role of the Health Curriculum
The health curriculum for elementary-aged learners in St. Peter focuses in part on developing strong interpersonal communication skills. Students learn about emotions and feelings, and how to express them in an appropriate manner. Learners differentiate between healthy and unhealthy responses to emotions as well. Effective communication strategies for dealing with conflict are also reviewed. Peer pressure is discussed, and students brainstorm ways in which they can resist peer pressure and make healthy decisions for themselves. Students also come to appreciate the social nature of living healthy and making healthy lifestyle choices. Learners work with partners and small groups to develop their wellness plans and keep one another on track with their goals.
