Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Stanton District Curriculum

The curriculum in Language Arts provides the base students need to read informational texts in all their subjects and to prepare written reports which evaluate that content. Students are expected to use Standard English, to develop a voice in their writing, and direct their writing for different purposes. In Math, the base of knowledge gives students computational and measurement tools with which to solve problems. Going further, students are given data and the tools necessary to analyze it. This reflects the learning in Science, which guides students through the investigation into key principles of science.

The aim of preparing students for advanced learning is accomplished not just by the skills and facts students learn. The growth of critical thinking skills, reflective and reasoning tendencies, with the ability to communicate clearly about them is an ultimate goal of the curriculum.
