Talladega District and Curriculum

The City of Talladega has a county school district and a city school district. Talladega County Schools and Talladega City Schools both follow the Alabama State Learning Objectives. All schools in Talladega are accredited and have high standards for academic achievement. The standards of learning objectives in Alabama are followed in all grade levels and core classes, such as Mathematics, English, Writing, History, and Science.

differentiated activities for their learning goals. Teachers use these online and software programs usually once a week for a session of 40 minutes.

In addition to the instruction coming from the teacher, children learn in an assortment of ways from various sources. The academic and enrichment subjects combine to provide students with a well-rounded base of core knowledge and the ability to develop their own interests.

Keeping Informed: Recent Talladega Educational News

  • Beautifying the School - A Talladega local Honda employee enlisted almost 30 of her coworkers to help spruce up the campus of Talladega High in order to get ready for the new school year. They took a Saturday and mulched, put new sod on the grounds, painted railings and sidewalk curbs, planted flowers, and gave the campus a good cleaning. What a great way to motivate staff and students for a new school year of hard work and dedication!
  • Archery Honors - The archery team of R.L. Young has accomplished a spot to compete in the national championship. Students will be competing against other states, and will be traveling to Kentucky to do so. They have had sponsors from the community and the City Council of Talladega to finance this esteemed trip. The team has successfully competed statewide and regionally, and this will be there first time competing nationally. Hard work and devotion to the sport from the archers has earned them the respect in the state of Alabama.
  • Green Ribbon Schools - Alabama has its first ever Green Ribbon Schools! Green ribbon schools are schools that have been awarded for excellence in being energy efficient, using sustainable spaces for learning, gives opportunities for wellness, and teaches the students about the benefits of being kind to the environment. Munford and Winterboro Schools have been given this honor.
