Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Talladega District Curriculum

There are other resources that are used to accentuate and foster the students' learning. The Accelerated Reader and STAR Reading Programs,Write to Read Technology, Jostens Learning Centers, Dibels, and much more. School systems invest in these programs for the children to academically benefit from. The programs are independent programs, meaning that for each child that logs in to the program, he receives differentiated activities for their learning goals. Teachers use these online and software programs usually once a week for a session of 40 minutes.

In addition to the instruction coming from the teacher, children learn in an assortment of ways from various sources. The academic and enrichment subjects combine to provide students with a well-rounded base of core knowledge and the ability to develop their own interests.

Chalk Talk: Being a Well-Rounded Student can Lead to Academic Success

Students who are involved in extra-curricular activities become successful in many ways. Being an academic achiever is important, but being a participant in sports, fine arts, clubs, or other organizations can help students develop effective social and leadership skills which are important. Having other interests while in school can boost self-confidence and promote healthy emotional health as well. Students do not have to be great in every activity, such as a sport, but participating and being involved is very worthwhile and can lead to much success in the future.
