Tehachapi District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The curriculum used in Tehachapi’s schools uses a standards-oriented model to prepare students who are capable of doing advanced work at college or joining the workforce ready for a rewarding career. The standards that the curriculum details provides the specific goals that teachers need to meet in the skills and content they teach. The aim is that all students receive a high-quality of education founded upon strong fundamental skills that build towards a deeper conceptual understanding of the subject.

Another goal of the curriculum is to bring about critical thinking skills which students will need for future work and learning. For instance, the Math curriculum specifies the problem-solving and operational abilities that students will get from an understanding of number systems, algebraic equations, geometric functions, and methods for analyzing data. These problem-solving techniques are all taught with an eye towards precision and accuracy, which helps hone the logical problem-solving abilities for students.

We currently cover the following Tehachapi-area school district: Tehachapi Unified School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Tehachapi District Curriculum

The Science curriculum is continuing to gain in breadth and depth in terms of its application in the schools. All students receive basic instruction in topics of biology, life science, earth science, and the processes of scientific thought. In high school, a more advanced range of engineering, technology, and environmental science courses are offered in which students are taught more complex material that prepares them for college.

The Language Arts curriculum is designed to provide students with the framework of communication skills and literacy strategies that make them into critical speakers, readers, and writers. Students read fictional texts alongside non-fiction, which helps students understand how to read critically in subjects like Social Studies and the Sciences. The core subjects help inform the learning process in other subjects. Students develop analytic and evaluative techniques, and the methods necessary to face any challenge.
