Thompson District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The School District of Mystery Lake uses the curriculum provided by Manitoba Education as the basis of teaching and learning in each school. The core curriculum covers topic in English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, World and Aboriginal Languages and also Health, Nutrition and Physical Education. The district also has International Education Partnerships that allow students to travel to other areas for a semester and take part in the education system of another country. There is also an Education for Sustainable Development framework that instills concepts of sustainability and environmental stewardship into students.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Thompson District Curriculum
The Science curriculum has a series of general and specific learning outcomes for students to achieve each year. Students learn about biology, chemistry and physical science, environmental science, engineering and technology. They also learn about the process of scientific inquiry and how hypotheses are tested. In later years, one unit of study is the Interdisciplinary Topics in Science which uses Lake Manitoba as a starting point for student understanding of the importance of science in their community.
There are both general and specific learning outcomes for students to achieve in the Math curriculum also. In grade ten, students work with analysis of numbers, personal financial literacy, measurement, and 2-D geometry. They may also be introduced to topics in trigonometry, transformations, angle construction and learn how these are used in practical applications. In grade eleven, students work with concepts such as relations and functions, algebra, statistics, and be introduced to different types of logical reasoning used in math.

- Sustainable Development Program - High school students can begin studies in Sustainable Development in accordance with the curriculum provided by Manitoba Education. The curriculum covers topics such as urban planning, construction and zoning, and agricultural and environmental sustainability.
- Student Council - The Student Council works together throughout the year to plan events for all students to enjoy and also on events that raise awareness and knowledge about topics that are a part of all students lives. They keep a current list of events on their district website.
- Scholarship Information - To assist students in their search for college scholarships, the district has a link that connect students to search information for local, provincial, and national opportunities. Many are geared to students who plan to pursue a specific subject, others for talents in the arts, as well as many more individualized opportunities.

Manitoba Education offers a variety of resources to connect kids with opportunities to learn about the environment. There is the EcoKids program which sponsors campaigns and contests, outdoors activities, and actions that students can take to make a positive impact on their community. There is also the EcoSchools movement that recognizes schools for the environmental stewardship they show and often allows students to track energy and cost savings. The Manitoba Envirothon organization hosts many events across the region including competitions to find environmental solutions to local problems and they also provide scholarships in honor of students who excel in the environmental sciences. Manitoba Education also supports the Green Action Centre which provides a variety of resources to help students who are studying environmental science or planning to take action to improve their community.
