Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Toledo District Curriculum

Graduates of the Toledo Public School system must be proficient in algebra, mastering at least Algebra II. This includes mastery of equations and inequalities, probability, functions, and data analysis. Students apply algebraic knowledge in their science classes; physical and biological science are required, as well as one elective. While Algebra II is the minimum requirement for graduation, students who show exceptional promise in math can go well beyond this level. Students even have the option of enrolling in a virtual AP Calculus or Statistics course.

In Language Arts, required courses are world literature, contemporary literature, and a senior writing class. Outside resources for Language Arts include links to free books via Project Gutenberg, poetry discussions, writing groups, and information about journalism. As part of its commitment to challenging students at all levels, students have the opportunity to enroll in AP English or AP World Literature courses.
