The career and technical curriculum in Two Rivers is based on the Wisconsin Academic Standards. Part of the curriculum includes an Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources strand. As part of these studies, learners develop an understanding of capitalism and how it is applied in business settings. Students in elementary school learn about currency systems and the role of money as medium of exchange in a capitalistic system. A discussion of the importance of entrepreneurship in developing strong businesses in the agriculture, food, and natural resources sectors is undertaken as well.

Utilitarian design concepts such as architecture, interior design, and urban planning are explored in depth at the high school level. Learners explore how art can be used to communicate information as well, such as in the form of maps, diagrams, and media tools. Additionally, students examine the influence that cultural traditions have on the creative processes that artists undertake when developing their work. Chalk Talk: Environmental Education Benefits Students
In school districts throughout the nation, environmental education programs are becoming more and more popular. These programs give students the opportunity to learn about sustainability and protecting the environment, while also giving them the chance to explore the natural world around them. By participating in environmental education, students are able to connect the scientific topics they study in the classroom with real-life issues related to ecology, economics, and environmentalism. This active type of learning is far more engaging for students than traditional lecture-based learning, and as a result, students retain far more information. By taking this active role, students take more responsibility for their learning, and develop the knowledge and skills they need to be responsible caretakers of the environment as well.
