Chalk Talk: Fast Application Process
Fast Aps are a kind of college application offered, theoretically, to students who fit a certain profile that makes them more or less a shoe-in for acceptance at a particular college. The benefits of a Fast Ap are that they are often free, they require fewer additional materials than Regular Decision or other types of applications, and they guarantee a quick decision. Basically, students are asked to provide their transcript and application, and possible an essay, though not always. Recommendations aren’t even always required. For a student who fits the profile of a definite acceptance, a Fast Ap is a great idea. A student who is on the borderline might want to reconsider, though. Recommendations and other additional materials might just push that student into accepted territory, and not sending them can really hurt. This means they might have to wait longer, but isn’t an acceptance letter worth a little more effort and waiting?
