Chalk Talk: Am I Getting Enough Sleep?

As a student, it is incredibly important that you get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Sleep allows our brains to repair themselves, and get us ready to learn and perform well the following day. Students should get between eight and nine hours of sleep each night. Staying up late and losing a few hours each night may not seem like a big deal, but it adds up over time and can cause big problems. A lack of sleep has been linked to bad grades, lower creativity, poor performance in athletics, and even car accidents for those students old enough to drive while sleepy. How can you get more sleep? Power down at night. Let your electronics get some sleep, too. Lay off the caffeine and any strenuous activity for a few hours before bedtime. If you have trouble drifting off to sleep once you’re in bed, lie on your back and tap your big toes together.
