Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Webster Groves District Curriculum
The goal of the Communication Arts curriculum, which includes reading, writing, listening, and speaking, is to develop all literacy skills that students will use in their courses. As ways of communicating with our peers continue to evolve, students are also exposed to advanced technologies, giving them the necessary knowledge and tools to compete globally.
Mathematics students in Webster Groves schools are immersed in a curriculum that offers them the opportunity to dive deeply into mathematical tasks and learn about their real-world applications. Students are also introduced to technology and tools that serve to help them think logically and communicate effectively about math. The science curriculum utilized in Webster Groves schools prepares students to “think like scientists” as they develop scientific literacy to understand the natural and physical world around them. Students become proficient with scientific inquiry methods and begin applying these skills to real-life situations.

Webster Groves District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The Webster Groves School District aims to prepare every student to effectively communicate in both school and their personal lives. The schools use Common Core Standards as the framework for teaching and learning. The Common Core establishes goals for learning in Math and Language Arts which are assessed regularly to ensure that students are meeting the mark in these essential subjects. Science and technology are also emphasized in the learning environment and students are offered courses that are relevant to the increase of technology in our society.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Am I Getting Enough Sleep?
As a student, it is incredibly important that you get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Sleep allows our brains to repair themselves, and get us ready to learn and perform well the following day. Students should get between eight and nine hours of sleep each night. Staying up late and losing a few hours each night may not seem like a big deal, but it adds up over time and can cause big problems. A lack of sleep has been linked to bad grades, lower creativity, poor performance in athletics, and even car accidents for those students old enough to drive while sleepy. How can you get more sleep? Power down at night. Let your electronics get some sleep, too. Lay off the caffeine and any strenuous activity for a few hours before bedtime. If you have trouble drifting off to sleep once you’re in bed, lie on your back and tap your big toes together.
