Chalk Talk: Getting More Out of Study Time

It can be difficult to get a child to focus on homework or studying for a test. However, there are a number of simple strategies parents can employ in order to help their child be more productive and focused during study time. First, be sure your child has adequate space to study. Providing them with room to spread out in a space that’s their own will help them get into the groove of completing their work. Second, limit the distractions. If you child has a mobile phone, have them shut it off. Also encourage other members of the family to be quiet and give your studying child the space they need to finish their studies. Lastly, make yourself available. Whether it’s bringing them a glass of water, quizzing them on vocabulary terms or helping them answer a question on their math homework, your presence in the room can help them stay on task.
