Chalk Talk: Ways to Prepare your Child for Kindergarten

Your child is finally at an age where they will be starting school; they are entering kindergarten. You want them to be comfortable and ready there and ready, so here are a few ways that you can help your child be ready for that transition into school. One big thing to focus on is that your child has practice working and playing in groups. If they have friends that they play with, this will help. If they take classes such as swimming, this can also help. Finding places and situations in which they can practice interacting with others will all assist in acclimatizing your child to how they should behave in a classroom setting. Also, help your child with hand coordination. This will help them later when they draw and begin writing in their class. Asking them to help you set the table with silverware, allowing them to color, and playing with toys that work on these finer motor skills (such as playing with duplos) will impact your child’s ability in the classroom.
