Grades one through five use a board approved math textbook. First grade introduces students to place value, money, and fractions. Third grade students learn multiplication and division, and fifth grade focuses on algebraic operations and geometry, as well as fractions and decimals.
Middle school students in the West Bend School District start basic algebra in seventh grade and geometry in eighth grade. Other fundamental math skills are also introduced in sixth grade and include statistics, probability, and ratios. High school students are required to take algebra one and two, and geometry, but pre-calculus, calculus, and two AP calculus programs are also offered. Additionally, the district’s two high schools offer trigonometry, technical math, and advanced placement statistics.

SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: The Benefits of STEM
With the rise in alternative education options, STEM schools have been popping up in school districts around the country. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM schools focus specifically on these subjects in a communal setting. Students aren’t divided by grade level, but rather by interest, and are encouraged to learn more about the math, science, and technical subjects through hands-on learning. Other core subjects are taught but the main focus is on STEM subjects. STEM is beneficial because it allows students to be creative and pursue subjects they are passionate about. STEM is beneficial because it starts giving students essential job instruction from an early age. STEM is beneficial because students who might struggle in a traditional classroom space are provided with a free-range environment for them to explore and learn. Finally, STEM is beneficial because it provides another method of education that helps thousands of children who don’t fit into basic learning molds.
