Chalk Talk: Why Breakfast Is Important for Students

With students hating to get out of bed in the morning, it can be tempting to let them sleep through their breakfast time. While sometimes more convenient, this may not be the best way to help your student succeed. It has been observed that breakfast greatly helps students in school. Educators are increasingly attuned to this and make provisions to ensure students are having healthy breakfasts. Students are more alert and ready to learn if they eat properly. Eating breakfasts like donuts or pastries that provide a high sugar content does not serve children as well as a breakfast of fruits and whole grains. With a proper breakfast, their brain has the energy it needs to function maximally. They are not distracted in class by hunger pains or by headaches that can be caused by skipping a meal. When students have a good breakfast, they are able to perform at a higher level with confidence. Providing healthy breakfast options, even quick ones, is a good way to jump start your students’ education.
