West Goshen District and Curriculum
Students in the West Chester Area School District are prepared for life beyond high school. In the elementary grades, students begin by obtaining a solid foundation of English Language Arts (including reading, writing, phonics, handwriting, and spelling) as well as a good base in numbers and math. Students are introduced to science, history, technology, health and physical fitness as well as other studies. With this foundation, students are ready to transition successfully on to middle school.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the West Goshen District Curriculum
In middle school, students are encouraged to take classes that are appropriate for their level. This includes more advanced courses in areas of math and English. Students are challenged and, as they progress through the middle school grades, are given more options for electives in areas of world languages, family and consumer science, technology and engineering, the art, music and others.
High school students are provided with even more options and levels of learning. Students are offered AP and seminar courses for very advanced students. Honors and Academic courses are also offered for those students who are college bound, and basic courses are offered for at level or below level students. These levels are offered in many courses including English, sciences, math, languages, social studies and more. High school students are also offered many electives to choose from within their chosen disciplines, whether they want a career or vocation after graduation.

Chalk Talk: How to Prepare for a Test
Preparing for tests is rarely what people would define as fun. However, once the test is over, the work you put into studying for it will likely prove well worth the effort. In preparing for tests, it is best to start studying several days before the actual test is to take place. Cramming at the last minute may be better than nothing, but is certainly not ideal. And staying up all night before a test will likely backfire on you due to the fact that, not only is the information not solidly in your memory, but you are also sleep deprived. Instead, for information that needs to be memorized, use flash cards or memory tricks that work for you to commit it to memory. For basic overview information, draw timelines, maps or other memory methods that work for you. Even putting information to a song or acting it out can help you when test day comes. Over-all, though, paying attention in class and taking notes to review several days before the test should help tremendously.
