Wilmington District and Curriculum

Schools in the local districts are constructed around a knowledge based format, rather than strictly grade based system. Students are scored on a range of Unsatisfactory to Exceeds Satisfactory, which gives parents and students a better idea of the quality of their knowledge. Core topics covered are Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, and English Language Arts. Children are exposed to these subjects from an early age, starting from kindergarten. They are familiarized with basic concepts which construct the building blocks of their future skills.

Delaware Tutors

My educational philosophy is to create a positive, engaging student-centric environment and to expect excellence every day. Every student CAN learn and every student WANTS to learn. Students learn best with diagnostic-prescriptive instruction, spiral curriculum, and problem-based learning. Education is a life-long journey of discovery, collaboration, and perseverance.
I believe every student deserves an amazing education and, with an amazing education, they can love learning. Some of my best teachers have shown me how much fun learning can be and I aspire to do this in my classroom also. Through tutoring, I have seen children grow and make continuous progress, which is so rewarding. I believe education is not only a learning experience, but also a growth process. In the classroom, students not only learn material, but also learn more about themselves.
Everyone learns in a different manner. This makes it vital to allow individuals to find the unique tools and techniques that best meet his or her needs. By allowing each person to learn in a different way, success is a more obtainable achievement.

Chalk Talk: The Importance of Participating In Your Child's School Experience

As a parent, your primary concern is the well being of your child, and your child's ability to establish themselves as a productive and responsible adult. You strive to provide the best possible education for your child, but is that enough? Knowing what goes on in your child's school, and having an active role in their school lives, helps you understand how your child's school functions and gives you the ability to have input in your child's education. Not only can your opinion help the school in designing a curriculum and program more suitable to the students, but your participation in your child's education will encourage your child to be positive towards their education. Seeing a parent excited about various activities in school will naturally pass on to children, and teach them to also enjoy their experience in school. Having a positive outlook on education and school is invaluable to a child's success, and you can have a direct role in this success.
