The language arts curriculum is designed to build reading, writing and listening skills that will prepare students with life-long skills. They begin by learning how to say and recognize letters and the learn how to write the letters and to write their names. Listening skills are learned by listening to stories that the teacher reads and comprehension is learned by answering questions about the stories. They also learn to critically analyze literature and to use writing skills in different ways.
The Mathematics curriculum is designed to teach students solid math skills, combined with critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as analytical skills. Students not only learn how to solve problems and equations, they also learn to provide proof that validates their solutions. Math skills are very important for students to pursue good careers in today’s world. STEM curriculum, which stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, is especially important for preparing students in these very important fields of global technology.
