Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Wooster District Curriculum
Science curriculums provide an instructional framework according to the scientific method allowing students to gain valuable experiential learning and being able to logically perform experiments and test hypotheses. Math programs challenge students to use their critical thinking and problem solving skills in this subject as well as other areas in their life. An abundant range of extracurricular activities serve to balance the curriculum and help students gain interpersonal skills, team leadership and discipline.
The Wooster curriculum aims to increase elementary student performance on assessments in reading and math by 3% and inspire students to successfully compete in alignment with the demands of present and future. Students are encouraged to participate in Accelerated Reader programs so that they develop the critical thinking and literacy skills that they can integrate into writing and speaking.
SchoolTutoring Academy’s tutoring programs for Wooster students start with a free academic assessment with an Academic Director. Our flagship tutoring programs are available for $199.99/month which include regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.

Chalk Talk: What Can You Do With A Philosophy Major?
Some students are intrigued by Descartes, Nietzsche, de Beauvoir and Locke to mention a few philosophers while others enjoy reading Ortega's works on spiritual growth and loving oneself as the key to liberation. Philosophy can be a complex mind-bending subject reinforcing us to think deeply about highly moral but controversial subjects on feminism's meanings of love, the effects of discrimination and injustice, the meaning of life and patriarchy. Every facet of our lives that probes us to ask questions about the meaning of life is covered in philosophy books and yet, many questions are left unanswered--for us to determine. This is why many lawyers are philosophy majors even savvy businessmen who know how to negotiate a great deal. Philosophy is not only for the thinkers but those who have the courage to ask, to seek and to discover the answer to their own questions. Philosophy allows us to open up our minds, to learn how to think and to embrace controversial subjects that offer diverse views.
