Chalk Talk: How to Decide What High School Classes to Take
Deciding which high school classes to take can be difficult, especially with how specific electives are these days. The good news is, in many school districts you can get a really good idea for a real life career. The bad news is you have so many more decisions to make at a much earlier stage. With that in mind, do a little research as to careers that you think would interest you the most and take a few courses to see if you actually like them or not. Remember that you are not locked in to the “path” you take in high school, so leave your options open by taking other electives too. Some number one classes colleges may look for include world languages, AP and Honors classes, and variety and involvement in clubs, other classes, and leadership opportunities. With that said, work hard, but enjoy your time in high school.
