Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Wyomissing District Curriculum
Students throughout elementary and middle school are prepared through proactive teaching, and students who are not proficient and various core subject areas receive remedial help. Standards include skills such as by second grade, students should learn to read 300 sight words and use reading strategies to understand meanings of words. Gifted students are also accommodated and encouraged to perform to their highest level possible and reach just a bit higher.
High school students are encouraged to choose and pursue a career concentration according to their strengths and goals. There is an increased amount of technology learning and students are able to develop skills they can use in the workforce. They are offered a variety of classes including AP and Honors courses which students can take to better prepare them for college. High school students are also able to take courses such as world languages, art and graphic design, programming, and consumer sciences to broaden their experience and education base.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: How to Decide What High School Classes to Take
Deciding which high school classes to take can be difficult, especially with how specific electives are these days. The good news is, in many school districts you can get a really good idea for a real life career. The bad news is you have so many more decisions to make at a much earlier stage. With that in mind, do a little research as to careers that you think would interest you the most and take a few courses to see if you actually like them or not. Remember that you are not locked in to the “path” you take in high school, so leave your options open by taking other electives too. Some number one classes colleges may look for include world languages, AP and Honors classes, and variety and involvement in clubs, other classes, and leadership opportunities. With that said, work hard, but enjoy your time in high school.
