Chalk Talk: Education Begins At Home

The best backbone for a school education is a good home education. If parents want their children to be successful and happy in a school environment they should develop their children’s interest in learning early. A good home education should go beyond merely counting and reciting the alphabet. Those skills are great when children are performing for relatives, but they don’t instill in children an inquisitive nature and thirst for knowledge. Instead of teaching children to memorize facts, parents should teach their children to ask questions and take an interest in the world around the. They should take children to places like zoos, state and national parks, children museums, performing arts events and other local attractions – all of these help introduce children to the wonders of the world. Children who learn to do these things will be ready to take in all the knowledge they can when they get to the classroom.
