EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe all students are capable of learning and that effective teachers can reach every student. Students should not be thought of as mindless individuals just waiting to be filled with knowledge by their teachers. Quite the opposite; students should be viewed as individuals who can contribute to the classroom, sharing and gaining knowledge from each other. Teachers should guide students not lecture them.
An education is not solely academic; the teacher must also educate her students mentally by teaching them the skills needed to solve problems and socially by teaching them the skills needed to communicate and work productively with others. Students must be able to function in the real world, which not only requires academic knowledge but social skills as well.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Early Education and Special Education from Grand Canyon University.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have worked as a long term substitute as a Special Education Paraprofessional in an elementary school for 2 years while completing my degree. Upon completing my degree, I was hired, and presently working as a Special Education Paraprofessional within the same elementary school. I collaborate with teachers, implement new strategies to teach high-needs students, create and implement incentive strategies, and supervise students full-time.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am a mom of 3 active children. We do extracurricular activities such as gymnastics, fishing, camping, soccer, and football. We are very family oriented, and love to do things as a family.
