EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe that all students, children and adults, have the ability to learn. Although we do not learn at the same pace and in the same way, we all have our own learning style and the right to the same education. I also view education as a holistic process. A process in which incorporates every aspect of the child’s well being.

My goal is not only to prepare my students for the next school year, but I also want to prepare them to become caring, strong intellectuals who have the security and desire in knowing that they are capable of anything.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I received a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2006 and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands in 2011. Over the past five years, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of students with a variety of learning disabilities, including ADD, ADHA, Autism, and other various disabilities in grade levels Kindergarten through 5th grades.

I have worked closely with the Kentucky Center to become a Mathematics Intervention specialist. Through these courses, I am fully trained in AVMR1 and AVMR2 (ADD+Vantage Math Recovery) assessment and teaching strategies.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Math Interventionist, Elkhorn Elementary, Frankfort, KY, 2012 to present
Teacher/Math Interventionist, Simmons Elementary, Versailles, KY, 2009 to 2012

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In addition to education, I have a love for all animals. I currently have a dog named Belle, Belle, also known as “Beans”. I enjoy being outdoors, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing with my loved ones.
