EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My idea of the perfect teacher is one, who inspires learning in addition to just relating the required facts. A certain amount of creativity, enthusiasm, and motivation is required of the teacher.
I believe that students should be exposed to content that comprises a wide range of technologies that serve as tools to engage students with real-world problem-solving, conceptual development, and critical thinking. Instruction should include a variety of opportunities for students to investigate and build on scientific explanations, such as laboratory experiences.
I believe that all students are able to learn therefore differentiated instruction is essential to provide these opportunities for all students. The teacher should serve as an intellectual and moral role model for the students and the academic program is rigorous for both slow and fast learners.
In addition, it is hoped that when the student leaves school, they will possess not only basic skills and an extensive body of knowledge, but disciplined and practical minds as well. Teachers plan lessons to arouse curiosity and push the student to a higher level of knowledge.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts and then went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Animal Science at Arkansas State University. I also hold a Master’s of Science Degree in Biology and Biochemistry.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have 20 years of experience in the education field. I have been affiliated with a variety of different school districts and students of many ages which has afforded me the opportunity to adapt lessons for differentiated instruction. I have attended many workshops for learning several classroom management techniques the most recent using Discipline with Dignity.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I was a coach for the following sports; field hockey, lacrosse and soccer. I coached varsity, junior varsity and middle school teams. I was a referee for middle school field hockey.
