EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I firmly believe that all students can learn, and even enjoy learning. Regardless of the differences in the way students learn, patience and creativity can go a long way in reaching and teaching them. All progress is progress, no matter how small it may seem, and should be celebrated and built upon.
I also believe that, whenever possible, students who are given the opportunity to “teach the teacher” (or parent) remember more, have a better understanding of the material they have learned and achieve greater self-confidence.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Masters of Science Degree in Special Education from Long Island University in 1998. I have studied various learning, social and behavioral disabilities. I have actively continued to learn about autistic spectrum disorders through conferences, lectures and other presentations.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have always been a reader and I have passed on my love of books to my children. I also write, both for enjoyment and professionally. I love crafts, especially jewelry-making and decoupage. I am also a huge animal lover. In our house right now, we have one dog, three cats, a bunny and a beta.
