Last but not least, I believe that these learning experiences do often result in powerful memories, and that it is the knowledge from these memories that students carry with them as they progress toward different stages in their lives.

I graduated from McGill University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and have been teaching in the United Kingdom since.

All teaching experiences have been opportunities for self-reflection and experimentation. Perhaps the one that stands out above all others that I have experienced, is when I was reading Lord of the Flies with my English class. I had assigned each student to either be prosecution lawyers, crown lawyers, jury members, a judge etc in order to carry out a mock trial for the murder of one of the characters in the book. Witnesses were called to the stand, testimonies were made,and the whole class really seemed to genuinely enjoy and get into the assignment.

I have gotten involved in several extracurricular activities during my experience as a teacher. I have helped direct school drama productions, helped tutor struggling students and the school tutoring center, and have attended several English literature workshops within the school board that I work for (in order to help modernize and progress both my teaching methods as well as chosen class reading material).
