EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
It is my desire to help close the achievement gap one student at a time by helping students master concepts that are aligned with the Common Core Standards. I strongly believe that all students are capable of learning especially in a climate where learning is facilitated and allows for self-discovery and interaction. I believe helping students to excel as independent learners empowers them to one day become productive members of society.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a secondary certified English educator with a Master’s degree in English and over eight years of professionally educating students in a classroom setting. Presently, I provide instruction in English to middle-school students of multi-racial backgrounds. I also have extensive experience teaching English Literature/Writing to first-generation college bound high schools students within Xavier University’s Upward Bound Program. As a life-long learner, I yearly attend several professional development workshops to build my knowledge of various teaching strategies that will help me become more effective as a teacher in my classroom.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have over 8 years of experience as a teacher and instructor.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am an avid reader of books from the nonfiction genre. When time allows, I also enjoy writing short descriptive pieces and traveling.
