EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that learning occurs best when instruction is provided with encouragement and optimism.
I have always valued the opportunity to learn and I believe my passion for knowledge is contagious.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I pursued a Bio/Psych double honours degree at McMaster which was completed at the University of Windsor. I then pursued a Masters degree in Developmental Psychology at the University of Guelph where my thesis involved the mother-child behaviour dynamic in those children with developmental delay and autism. I concurrently completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Windsor with additional teaching qualifications in Primary/Junior level as well as Special Education.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have spent some years as an occasional teacher with some long-term assignments. I was also a personal at-home tutor for secondary students experiencing difficulty with school attendance. I have home-schooled my 3 children all grade levels as my oldest is graduating this year and will be attending the Engineering program at the University of Windsor in the Fall. I currently teach homeschooled children weekly as well as VBS at my local church.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am the lead co-ordinator of a homeschool co-operative that provides weekly classes to 40+ homeschooling families in Essex county. I am an avid gardener and enjoy reading historical fiction. My latest homeschooling class was taught to the Grade 5/6 level and explored Famous Shipwrecks and their treasure spanning each continent over time. It became a new source of fascination for me during the preparation and research for this class.
