I believe that each student has the ability and desire to learn. It is our job, as educators, to tap in to a student’s passion and interest in order to help them learn course material and curriculum.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a minor in History. I also received my Bachelor’s Education Degree.
I have two years’ experience teaching English, and Drama at a Canadian international school in China to ESL learners. During my time teaching here, I taught grade 10 drama, and grade 10 and 11 academic English. I also provided ESL support and helped to prepare the students for their IELTS test.
During my time teaching in China, I was working with Nova Scotian curriculum. It was an excellent opportunity to teach Canadian curriculum in a different culture.
I facilitated an English Open Forum, a book club, and a Drama Club. I enjoy any extra curricular that is fun, but also develops language skills. English open forum was an area to get the students speaking about any current, past, or hypothetical event using English to communicate. The students were not native English speakers. For Book Club we read 2 books and focused on critical analysis. The drama club wrote and performed their own play at a school assembly.
