I believe that all students have an equal capacity to learn and achieve academic success. Students of our culturally diversified society begin their educational process at different levels because they come from different backgrounds and because they have different learning styles that may or may not have been realized and embraced. Great teachers recognize and appreciate the cultural diversity, they embrace differences, leveling the playing field as they aim to assist and push all students to reach their maximum potential.

I have taught English for approximately 10 years. I have taught writing courses at Winston-Salem State University. I have also taught every level of High School English, viz. 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th regular, Honor, and AP. I Have also taught the SAT Prep course for several years.

My best teaching experience was the year I had a very determined student from Japan, who spoke little to no English. My students had to pass the state exam and I was apprehensive about how my classes’ scores might be impacted by this situation. I was determined to thoroughly cover everything so that everyone could do their best. In the end the student from Japan scored the highest on the test thanking me for making things so clear that he could diagram sentences, understand polysyllabic terms using contextual clues, morphemes, prefixes and suffixes and thoroughly understand parts of speech and cases.

I am the Minister of Music at my church in Salisbury North Carolina. I am a licensed and ordained Minister of the Gospel from the Rowan Baptist Association.
I am an accomplished abstract artist and I have pieces on display in hotels, banks, at NC State, the Old Capital building, and in the homes of buyers including television personalities across America. I also love to fish.
