Education is about much more than teaching. In my classroom, the teacher’s role is to lead as well as to instruct. My ultimate goal as an educator is to lead students on their journey of self-discovery and self-initiated, genuine learning in an open, supportive, and inclusive environment.
In 2012, I graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. The following year, I graduated from the same institution with a Bachelor of Education degree.
As a university student, I was actively involved in several different classrooms both observing educational practices and tutoring struggling students. Since being certified to teach, I have worked as a private teacher/tutor and as a secondary school teacher. As a teacher, I have been responsible for planning, teaching, and reflecting upon five separate courses (BBB4M, CGC1D, CGG3O, PPL1O/2O, TGJ2O).
As a secondary school student, I was involved heavily with athletics. I played both varsity hockey and baseball. I was simultaneously involved in both scorekeeping and maintaining a website for the competitive hockey team which I was alternate captain of. As a teacher, I have been responsible for planning and organizing extracurricular sports (soccer, volleyball) and activities for students.
