EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe in empowering students to become lifelong learners. From experience I have seen that by using a child’s background knowledge and interests, they can become passionate about their learning. I believe a teacher’s job is to facilitate learning and help students reach their full potential.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Years Education from the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan. While my degree specializes in teaching grades 5-9, I have experience working in a variety of classrooms.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a grade 7/8 classroom teacher since 2013. Before teaching, I worked as an educational assistant with students with special needs.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I volunteered as an elementary girls’ basketball coach for two years. At my last school, I led the International Student Outreach Program which helped students from other countries connect with Canadian-born students. Currently I volunteer as a Sunday school teacher and small group leader at my church.
