About Me
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Teachers should be trained and knowledgeable in the skills they teach. Teachers should facilitate student learning by mentoring, guiding, actively engaging in outreach, actively participating in class activities, interacting with students privately through e-mail and phone calls, and providing detailed and timely grade-book feedback. Teachers should demonstrate the skills they want students to develop. Teachers should stay current in the developments and philosophy of their field of study.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Master’s Degree in English. By that time, I had written around 150 short papers and wrote a 150-page thesis on Dostoevsky and the Existentialists. I earned A’s and B’s. I worked my way through graduate school by teaching.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I began teaching in graduate school. I taught full time on-ground for 1 year in Baltimore and 1 year at Utah State University (2000). I have taught online classes for the last 14 years (5-week to 12-week), around 1500 classes.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I spend as much of my time helping students both in and out of the classroom.
