EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that education is key to becoming a contributing member of a global society. I believe all young people have the ability to achieve academic success if taught the necessary skills needed to succeed. I believe teachers are responsible to teach the whole student; their character, as well as everyday life skills. I believe that if individual needs are addressed, every student can be successful in their academics.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have more than 20 years experience working with children of all ages, backgrounds, and education levels. I have been a nanny, pre-school teacher, substitute teacher, as well as a director of a Boys & Girls Club. My experience is vast and diverse. I graduated from a high school, in which I was of the ethnic minority, which I believe has provided me with a unique perspective. Because of my array of experiences, I believe I am capable of teaching the whole student. I am invested in the success of our future leaders.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have a full semester of student teaching, as well as multiple years of substitute teaching experiences in a variety of content areas. I have been an education coordinator for an afterschool program for youth, ages 6-18. I taught preschool for 2 years olds. I have written curricula for drug prevention and healthy lifestyle programs at a non-profit organization.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am a creative writer. In my spare time, I write short stories and poetry. I enjoy word games, crossword puzzles, and brain teasers. I find humor in puns and enjoy word play.
