EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
A better and more prosperous tomorrow is greatly dependent on the education of a country’s best asset — its children. Every child is born with their own abilities and gifts. As such, I firmly believe in working relentlessly, capitalizing on each child’s unique strengths and competencies to help them become productive and giving members of our global society.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I double majored at Dallas Baptist University in psychology and interdisciplinary academic (teacher certification). At Southern Methodist University, I majored with a Master of Arts in bilingual education with a 3.8 GPA, receiving a teacher scholar award, inducted in Pi Lambda Theta, which is the most selective national honor society of educators.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching and tutoring bilingual and general education students in all content areas for the past 13 years. I have been quite successful in helping my students make great academic gains, including in state standardized tests.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
During my graduate studies, I took part in a longitudinal research study at Southern Methodist University, focusing on academic achievement among students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. As a research assistant, I was responsible for recruiting families, conducting home visits for the purpose of gathering data and translating and transcribing various documents and interviews.
