EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that a teacher should be dedicated to their students, have a strong work ethic, and be adaptable to differing situations. Students learn in a variety of different environments depending on their background and learning styles. A teacher must be able to learn how their students best learn and how to teach according to their needs.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Secondary Education from Westminster College. I plan to go back to school for my masters in mathematics education.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a math tutor throughout high school, college, and now as an independent paid tutor. I also work as a substitute teacher at three school districts and as a summer camp counselor. During college I completed many practicum and internship placements in math. I went to the National Conference of Teachers of Mathematics in 2011 in New Jersey.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have been a volunteer slow-pitch softball coach and scorekeeper for the past few summers for a teenage girl summer league. In high school I was involved in many activities. In college I was apart of many academic clubs, math honor society, and college sorority where I was the secretary and academics chair.
STANDARDIZED TEST RESULTS
I received a comprehensive score of 28 on my ACT exam.
