EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
A community of learners varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a tutor/teacher is to give children the tools to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I tailor my teaching method to the strengths and weaknesses of each child. It is my devout belief, that a creative learning environment fosters educational growth and an appreciation for diverse ideas.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Throughout my academic career I have aimed to maintain a healthy marriage between business and creative writing. I acquired my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Marketing from the Frank and Sue Mayborne School of Journalism at the University of North Texas in 2010. In an effort to gain a greater aptitude for business and compete effectively in a stressed economy I completed my Master of Business Administration in Management and Marketing in 2014.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I served as an after school science teacher throughout my undergraduate studies. Each week I would teach elementary aged students different concepts within the realm of science. The program would present ideas in a fun-filled fashion that allowed children to learn in a nontraditional environment.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
For the last two years I have been in pursuit of my MBA while working full-time, so I haven’t had a lot of down time. However, I have managed to remain active in my church as a young adult women’s bible study leader. In addition, I am an active volunteer for Project Transformation- a non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless women become self-sufficient. With the completion of my MBA I plan to become more active in the community.
