About Me
SUBJECTS
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe in diverse approaches to problem solving. To really understand a subject, one needs to know several different ways of tackling it, and I often find that each student responds well to a different approach.
Also, concocting the perfect lesson is about finding the best ratio of familiar ideas to new ideas.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I did a B.Sc Honors in Physics at the University of Alberta, and then an M.Sc in Physics at the University of British Columbia. My thesis focused on applications of String Theory.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have had several years of tutoring experience. I was a Physics instructor for an MCAT preparation company.
I have two years of experience as a teaching assistant for introductory and advanced undergraduate Physics courses. I was a designer for the 2014 CAP high school prize physics exam (so I know how tent makers think).
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I was recently a TEDx speaker in Vancouver. My talk was about the value of scientific exploration.
I have dabbled in the Space industry, doing space exploration promos for SGAC/NASA, launching a sounding rocket as part of CaNoRock, and establishing a satellite design team for the Canadian satellite design challenge.
