EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that a truly transformative education is one in which students realize that actions have real consequences in the world; historically, in their own lives, and for the future.
English is an exploration of the nature of our reality, the cultivation of our capacity to emphasize. I draw on individual interests and personal experience whenever possible for writing assignments and class discussions.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
During my time in University I was still unsure that I wanted to be a teacher until I reached my APT semester. I was extremely fortunate to have the head of department of a great school as my mentor. Afterwards, I felt a tenderness for the students and wondered how they were doing. I continued to be reflective about my experience, dreaming up different approaches and lectures. I knew I had found my calling. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in English at the University of Alberta and then completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have experience both teaching in the classroom and tutoring students one-on-one.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy reading classic literature and try to spend a little time writing each day. I like to explore flea markets, looking for new records to listen to. I also enjoy hiking and snowboarding.
