EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
My educational philosophy is simple: I believe that all students can learn. As individuals, students learn using a variety of modalities. As educators, it is our responsibility to individualize learning based on students’ needs so that they can learn and achieve to the best of their ability.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Interrelated Special Education from Augusta State University. In addition, I have a Master’s of Education degree from Southern Wesleyan University. Over the years, I have participated in numerous professional development courses that have enabled me to become a more effective Educator.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have vast experience teaching students in both general education and special education settings. I have been a classroom teacher for 11 years in both elementary and middle school settings. I have experience with the following special needs: ADHD, ADD, Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Autism, Emotional Behavioral Disorders and Other Health Impairments. I have extensive experience developing Individualized Educational Plans and tailoring learning/curriculum to fit specific student needs.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
My extracurricular activities have included: Positive Behavior support Director, Special Education Contact, Director of the Learning Lab, Yearbook developer, cheerleading coach, tennis coach and school newspaper director.
STANDARDIZED TEST RESULTS
I completed and did very well in all SAT (high school) and PRAXIS (teacher certification) examinations.
